Community Centre

Dolgarrog Community Centre lies at the heart of the village next to the shops and is available for hire. For details of hire charges please contact clerk@dolgarrogcommunitycouncil.org with an outline of your event and the length of time. We have a large room with adjacent kitchen, large interactive smart screen, Chrome books, wi-fi printer and a small music practice room.

The community council also organise and run events and groups in the hall and details of these are publicised on our Facebook page, in the community shop - COG and on the notice board outside the community centre.

Currently we host:

Camerados Tuesday afternoon 1-3pm this is a "public living room" where you can pop in and have "Tea, Chat and Companionship" all are welcome.
Knit and Natter Thursday Afternoons 1-3pm

Revisiting the Dolgarrog dam disaster after 100 years

On 2 November 1925, a catastrophic flood swept through Dolgarrog village in north Wales, depositing enormous boulders and killing 16 people. In 2025, what have we learnt from this flood disaster? The Dolgarrog disaster was a seminal event for civil engineering and for the design of dams/reservoirs in the UK. The geomorphological impacts of the flood were set out in the Geographical Journal in 1928 in a now classic paper. It was also obviously a tragedy for the local community. The Dolgarrog disaster is not widely known. We will look at all these themes in our lecture and include some of the original News footage.
